Cumières sits on south-facing river-front slopes immediately west of Hautvillers, with a substantial vineyard area split between Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay. The village has a long tradition of producing still red wine under the Coteaux Champenois appellation, alongside the better-known Bouzy Rouge from the eastern Montagne, and Cumières Rouge remains a quiet specialty of the village to this day. Cumières is also the address of Roederer's Domaine Brut Nature, a biodynamic, concave south-facing parcel co-vinified as a field blend of all three principal grapes, designed in collaboration with Philippe Starck and released since the early 2000s. A handful of small organic and biodynamic growers also call the village home.
