Tauxières-Mutry sits just east of Aÿ, on south-facing slopes that continue the same chalk hill into the eastern Vallée de la Marne. The village is one of only two Premier Crus rated at 99% on the historical Échelle des Crus, falling a single point short of Grand Cru status alongside Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. Pinot Noir overwhelmingly dominates the plantings, and a number of single sites here have long been used in major-house prestige cuvées, including the Croix Rouge parcel that historically supplied Bollinger's pre-phylloxera Vieilles Vignes Françaises bottling. The commune was formed by the merger of Tauxières and Mutry in 1882, and since 2016 has been part of the larger Val-de-Livre commune. The village has no famous resident estate, and most of its fruit is sold to the major maisons.
