Chamery is a Petite Montagne village with substantial vineyard holdings on north- and northeast-facing slopes, on soils that are notably sandy compared to the chalk-dominated bedrock typical of the rest of Champagne. The plantings are unusually balanced for a Premier Cru, with Pinot Meunier in the lead but Chardonnay and Pinot Noir holding meaningful and roughly equal shares behind it. The village has a high number of small vineyard owners, and a handful of its parcels are vinified as still red Coteaux Champenois.
