Coulommes-la-Montagne sits on a mild amphitheatre slope northwest of the village proper, with a small vineyard area predominantly planted to Pinot Meunier. The Premier Cru status is recent: the village was promoted from 89% to 90% in the late twentieth century, alongside Vrigny. There is no famous resident house, but a handful of small grower estates work the parcels.
